Hey guys you can change the yahoo messenger title bar...
For this just find the folder messenger in the drive in which the messenger is installed. Then search a file named "ymsgr". In this file just go to the end and write the following code:[APP TITLE]
CAPTION=Red Devil
Here you can write any name in place of Red Devil... then see the fun.... You can have your own name being placed in yahoo messenger title bar.

Sometimes some of your friends who appear offline in yahoo messenger may not be actually offline,they may in the 'Invisible' mode.This maybe if they are trying to ignore you or are too busy to talk to anyone.There is this small trick that you can use to find out what the truth is.Firstly open your yahoo messenger main window and double click on the name of the person whom you want to check.The chat window will open obviously.Click IMVironment button, select See all IMVironments, select Yahoo! Tools or Interactive Fun, and click on Doodle.After loading the Doodle imvironment there can be two possibilities1.If the user is offline Doodle are will show this "waiting for your friend to load Doodle" continuously .See in the picture below:
2. If the user is online (but in invisible mode), after few seconds (it can take up to one minute, depending on your connection speed), you should get a blank page like in the picture below.So you know that the user is online.
Alternate Method:
Chose a person you want to check .Double click to open the chat window.Now simply invite the person for a voice conference.This is done by clicking on the "conference' button on the top of the chat window.If the talk button appears and turns green then that person is online.But if you receive the message 'Voice chat could not be started ' then the person is offline.Note:Some people use softwares like buddy spy to check who is invisible.I DONT RECOMMEND you to use such third party softwares as they can expose your Pc to hackers by sending your personal information and can even steal information from your Pc.So avoid such softwares and instead use the simple tricks given above.If you have any queries or would like to make some useful contribution to this topic feel free to drop a line in the comments section.

Controlling Your Name on Yahoo Messenger
You can configure the first name, the last name and the nickname by clicking on the Messenger menu – My Contact Details.
Please keep in mind that entering a nickname in its special box, no matter if you also write a first or a last name, will display only this field in your contacts’ lists. Also, remember that you cannot change the way you appear in other lists because your contacts are able to modify your name as they want.

Access Yahoo Messenger Chat archives while offline
Archiving with Yahoo! Messenger is a very useful and helpful method of going through older chat logs.
Use this nice little indexing plugin called YIM Archive Plug-in for Google Desktop Search, using which i could access all my Yahoo archived logs even when I am not online using the Desktop search.
There is another way with which you can definitely access the logs which will include you downloading a software called Yahoo Messenger Archive Decoder.

Just go to edit profile and in the nick name type a (space character) on it just press Alt 0160 ( or ALT+255 ) and save it, now go to yahoo chat room and see your nick name empty.. Alt+0160 is a keyboard shortcut for space..
Change Yahoo Messenger Title Bar
You can change the text that appears at the very top of the yahoo messenger window by editing the ymsgr.ini file. Find the ymsgr.ini file in Program Files\Yahoo\ and open it. Then at the end, type this:
[APP TITLE]
caption=YOUR TEXT
change YOUR TEXT to whatever you want it to say. Then save the file and close messenger. When you restart messenger you will see your new message.
Remove the Ads from Yahoo Messenger
Close the messenger, download the Self Extracting file noadsse.exe - 64KB and run noads.exe. from it. and Restart Messenger…simple !! Alternatively
Nice info also found here. If you install new versions of Yahoo Messenger, you’ll have to repeat the steps above, as Yahoo setup rewrites the registry entries. New versions will most likely make removing the ads more difficult or even impossible.
Better Yahoo Messenger Installation.
Choose ‘Custom Install’ while installation and Uncheck all options such as changing default homepage etc.
After Installation, From the Preferences disable the Live words which isn’t worth.
Disable the Security Update Nag.
It can be disabled by renaming the “yupdate.exe” in program files to “yupdate.exe.bak”
Disabling the typing notification.
I find this feature annoying sometimes, I haven’t seen any option to disable this. But one way to go around is to Start the im windows minimized so you can still stay invisible without your control in the new window.

Tracing Yahoo ID to get user Ip address.
It was initially possible to gain the IP of the person you are chatting with in Yahoo Chat using the netstat command or a simple GUI tool like Process Explorer. for Windows. However, Yahoo fixed that. Still, if you try to use a ‘packet sniffer’ program you should be able to do that. You can try ethereal or winpcap [http://www.ethereal.com (for ethereal) ; http://winpcap.polito.it/ (for winpcap)]. However, network sniffing may be illegal in your area and you should check beforehand. Then you need to get a whois program. You can get one here: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/trout.html

so better try the below steps to Trace invisible users in yahooMany people nowdays prefer to stay offline while using Yahoo! Messenger - mostly done to avoid someone. There are many ways of finding people who are online but yet invisible.First Method: Doodle Method1. Double Click on the user whose status you want to check.
2. A message window will open.
3. Click IMVironment button, select See all IMVironments, select Yahoo! Tools or Interactive Fun, and click on Doodle.
4. The last step and the most important step. After loading the Doodle IMVironment, there will be two possibilities.
a) If the user is offline, the Doodle area will show ?waiting for your friend to load Doodle? continuously.
b) If the user is online (in invisible mode), after few seconds (it can take up to one minute, depending on connection speed), you will get a blank page. So the user is online!
Second Method: Voice Chat Method1. Double Click on the user whose status you want to check.
2. Click on ?Voice? icon on the toolbar, or select ?Contact? menu and select ?Enable Voice Chat? .
3. The deciding part? there are 2 possible results:
a) If the user is offline, you will get this message: ?Internal server error. Cannot obtain voice token to start voice chat.?
b) If the user is invisible (actually online), you will see the Voice Toolbar.
Third Method: Conference Invitation1. Right Click on the user whose status you want to check.
2. When the menu appears, select Invite to Conference.
3. A window will appear. See at the right pane, the username you selected will be there. Now, click Invite.
4. The deciding part? there are 2 possible results:
a) If the user is offline, you will get this message: ?None of the users in the invite list are available to join the conference. Please try at a later time.?
b) If the user is invisible, you will get a window similar saying: ?You are now logged into voice conference - njs124

Change colours of yahoo messenger
To change the background color of the buddy list.
For the skin you are using, look inside the skin folder, located in C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Shared\Graphics. Find the "skin_name".xml file, where "skin_name" is the name of the skin, and open it using notepad or wordpad. Find this line:
Change the x's to the hex value of the color you want to use. Save the xml. You will need to exit and restart messenger for this to appear properly. you can do a search for hex values and copy them to the "xxxxxxx" field
